Just to clear up any confusion among the historically ignorant, these are not Aussie slouch hats, although, if they were the question would still be valid.
These are campaign hats, the pride of the US Army's EM up until WW2.

A cheap shot I know but I gotta salvage my self-respect somehow.
The Mosins are probably the Remingtons we made here. And those were probably the field trainers.
They are Remingtons but the speculation as to the of the soldiers is different from yours.
