Meet Eve.
This is a photo of her in her younger days, back when she was one of several hundred, gun trucks used by the Motor Transport Corps to escort convoys in Viet Nam.
What's notable about Eve over any of the others is this:
She got to come home.
"Where are they now?"
In this particular case, Fort Eustice, Virginia
So, here's all her ass-kicking glory, decked out in shiny paint, heavily armed manikins and a defensive perimeter of formica and "information".
Sad somehow.
The name is what this is about though.
It's interesting, to me, what kind of cultural things are picked up on.
This name in particular, as almost anyone knew from the start, is a play on words.
Here's the inspiration:
Barry McGuire
Overlook the production values and, for God's sake, overlook... whatever the hell it is he's wearing.
I have no control over these things.
It was 1965.
Lot's of different pics of this sign.
"I don't make hell for nobody. I'm only the instrument of a laughing providence. Sometimes I don't like it myself, but I couldn't help it if I was born smart."

Paul Valery
"You are in love with intelligence, until it frightens you. For your ideas are terrifying and your hearts are faint. Your acts of pity and cruelty are absurd, committed with no calm, as if they were irresistible. Finally, you fear blood more and more. Blood and time."
The Wisdom of the Ages
"When a young man, I read somewhere the following: God the Almighty said, 'All that is too complex is unnecessary, and it is simple that is needed',"
