"I don't make hell for nobody. I'm only the instrument of a laughing providence. Sometimes I don't like it myself, but I couldn't help it if I was born smart."

"From here to Eternity"

Paul Valery

"You are in love with intelligence, until it frightens you. For your ideas are terrifying and your hearts are faint. Your acts of pity and cruelty are absurd, committed with no calm, as if they were irresistible. Finally, you fear blood more and more. Blood and time."

The Wisdom of the Ages

"When a young man, I read somewhere the following: God the Almighty said, 'All that is too complex is unnecessary, and it is simple that is needed',"

Mikhail Kalashnikov
"Here lies the bravest soldier I've seen since my mirror got grease on it."

More CAV's (Cute Armored Vehicles)

I'm lazy today.
Most of what passes for text is going to be what originally accompanied these illustrations in the Nov. 1933 issue of Mechanic's Illustrated.
Visible in tiny insurance policy form to the left. Click to read.
I will mention that I stopped by the clubhouse recently and found the Ogre's treatise on apostasy. I was impressed, as always, by the tendency on the part of Christians - and Christian-like folks - to feel that God gave them some sort of guarantee as to the quality of their life on earth.
The Book of Job, George. Read it. Live it.
The Book of James as well.
What follows below is the gist of a confab between Job and "Mrs Job" at the outset of his rough patch.

"Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.
But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips."

Ya just gotta gut it out is all. Grab a root and growl.
On an unrelated subject, George is also unhappy that he wasn't consulted as to North Korea's nuke program. Just an oversight I'm sure.
Actually, Kim Jong-il and old GH may just be of a type. We should get those two together.

Also we've got to do something about the drug cartels in our National Forests (I italicised that to add a little of the Og's hysterical flavor).
Here's what I'd do. Quit criminalizing a weed, that anyone, probably even Glenn Beck, can grow - but which will sell for hundreds of dollars an ounce.
But then all those DEA agents would be out of work and times is hard, especially for the unskilled.
They can't all be Blackwater rent-a-cops.

But, Saints be praised, Geogre has yet another "Armed, Utah Yahoos in Pickups" (AUYP - I loath acronyms - can you tell?) solution laid on. That's what it will take to make me feel safer.
In the meantime, as we await the jackbooted armies of Socialism, Communism, Boosterism, catechism and what other ism's we've run afoul of, let's imagine the kind of cool vehicles our guys could have if the country had any money left.
Thanks, Republicans.
Your man did a heckuva job.

That's more than the ultimate CAV...
I don't know the RFCAV (although it's not armored.
Yet another thing I've never heard of.
Thanks
